Description
Set of three .45-70-500 Government snap-caps. The 45-70 was adopted by the US Army in the early 1870's and was used in the Army's "Trap door" Springfield (M1873, M1888). This version of the cartridge utilized a 500 grain "end" set to 2.795" in order to differentiate it from the 45-55-405 used in the carbine version of the "Trapdoor". It was the US Army's standard 45-70 from 1886 until is was replaced by the 30-40 Krag. It was also very popular with civilians, especially in the West when buffalo hunting was prevalent.Available with spent primers remaining, empty primer pockets, holes drilled in the cases, or rubber inserts added to the primer pockets.
Great for safely function checking, as an addition to your western or Spanish-American War re-enactment kit, or display with your fine piece of American history.
